5 Months
C is 5 Months Today! I am having a hard time believing it!
New This Month:
- Full on scooting. He can get up on his knees and push forward.. He wants to crawl so bad!
- First belly laughs. Oh so adorable.
- Really into Elmo's Song on Youtube. 3 minutes and 17 seconds of immediate calm. He doesn't have to see it even, we converted it to an MP3 and even listening works.
- To the best of my non-scientific ability he is 26 inches long and about 15-16 pounds depending on when he last ate. His head is about 42 cm. He has my little small head... I had the same exact measurement as him at 4 months.
- He loves Caps for Sale which is great because I love that book! He laughs at "You Monkeys You! Give me back my caps!"
- Only child syndrome: he really likes his quiet time. Both times we were in Dtown this month he got incredibly overwhelmed and over stimulated. It involved one of us taking him outside away from EVERYTHING to get even remotely calm. Husband's family has a togetherness all the time policy that my family does not subscribe to and C seems to prefer the quiet calm version.
- Little bit of "real" food. Rice cereal--not a fan. And applesauce--pretty big fan. He only gets real food every other day and only for one meal. And he still wants his bottle. He is definitely interested in the food, but doesn't have the greatest patience just yet. I'm not giving it to him for calories or meals yet--he still gets the same amount of milk. It's to start the idea of swallowing.
- Holding his bottle. LOVE! It's so darn cute watching him hold his bottle, with or without the bottle holder. I still enjoy feeding him and want him to sit with me but usually one or two bottles a day, he'll hold them. I still have to be right there though--he's not excellent at tipping it up just yet. He has figured out cause and effect though and can get the bottle back to his mouth if he pulls it away.
- I have, I admit, started adding some rice cereal to some of his bottles. Not every one. Not all the time. But we have 3 boxes of rice cereal that was gifted to us and I have a hard time not using free stuff. Once it's gone I think we're going to do oatmeal.
C is still a snuggler. He does go back and forth between needing a swaddle or not, I guess it depends on the day. He is usually good for 2 naps a day. Still loving the exersaucer. He'll scoot over to it and hit it until I put him in. This has definitely led to some head bumps however when he scoots too far. I am always there for a super healing kiss though!
He is still in size 2 diapers though when the ones we have run out he is moving up to 3. But I am thrilled we made it 5 months and have not bought a single diaper since he has been born. I bought exactly the right number of diapers per size. (Go figure!) He has thus far used: two boxes and two small packs of 1s, three boxes and one small pack of 2s. Not bad. I still have two boxes of 3s (one from before he was born, one from my birthday) and then we'll officially need to buy diapers again.
For wipes originally bought 3 Sam's Club boxes. We just busted into our second box. Pretty snazzy.
So my guy is 5 months old. Hard to believe!
6 Months
I am having a hard time believing that he is six months old but sure enough. November 26 is here.He got big without even asking me! But he's still my baby.
New this month:
- Sitting up unassisted.
- Pulling himself up to sitting without any help.
- Up on hands and knees rocking, even better scooting himself on the floor. He's got the legs figured out so as soon as his arms catch up we'll have a crawler on our hands.
- Not so sure about baths anymore. I think maybe this is the last remnant of moving anxiety coming through but I am not sure how to fix it other than give him more baths. Actually just in writing this a thought occurred to me about the direction he is facing. Before his right was to us and he was facing the back wall now he faces the spout still with his right side to us. Perhaps the spout bugs him. I will try that.
- On the food front we have added carrots, sweet potatoes, bananas and tried avocado. Avocado will not be happening again--he threw them up. Not a horrible reaction and it may be circumstantial but I am not in a hurry to repeat it.
- Even more so into toys that crinkle. Toys in general. And buttons. My dad brought him an old remote (cleaned up of course) and the boy is in love.
- Real stats will be in on Thursday after the doctors but I think he's about 17.5-18 pounds now. As far as length goes... his arms and torso are too small for 3 month pajamas but his legs are too short for 6 month. I will wait for the true measurement later this week. :)
7 Months
Well since I couldn't really post yesterday about my 7 month old I decided why not a day late?
New this month:
- Pulling himself to standing. Loves it. Tries it all day long. Get's pretty mad when he cannot accomplish such an important task because the item isn't the right size or stable enough.
- Full on crawling. He's pretty speedy!
- Loves his food and puffs.
- Is getting really good at mimicking. Especially if it's Daddy he gets to mimic.
- Has a some new noises to let me know what's going on. He has this one that is a squeek like groan to tell me he needs some attention.
- Loves to crawl under things
- Likes to recognize songs. He gets very excited and bouncy when he recognizes sound.
- Is exhibiting that he is unsure of strangers. He doesn't cry or cling but he just kind of stares at the person or people he doesn't know.
- Has pretty much stopped chewing on his fingers and is really into chewing on things. His Nuks, Sophie, and a frog teether ring are all popular.
8 Months
8 months--I can't stand it!
New this month:
- Cruising everywhere. On anything. Showing no interest in real walking however.
- Bopping to the beat of music.
- 2 full on sharp teeth
- The swing officially moved to the basement yesterday so wish us luck with naps this week. He wouldn't nap yesterday in the swing and tried to stand up while it in. He was strapped in but it was time to say goodbye. Plus now we have way more room.
- Has said Ma and Boo when prompted though not with enough consistency for me to write it in the baby book.
- Still loved swimming, watching football and crawling everywhere.
- Graduated from the bath seat to sitting in the tub.
- Has an every single day bedtime routine including playtime upstairs, bath, pajamas, bottle in the dark while reading The Magic Tree House books. Mom and Dad switch off between feeding and reading.
- Still in size 3 diapers.
- At an odd size 6-12 month clothes but the pants are too long. 6 month pajamas are getting short in the arms but he is swimming in 9 month pajamas.
- Eats peaches, apples, bananas, pears, squash, sweet potato, carrots, peas, broccoli, green beans and cauliflower. Also tried a bunch of finger foods none of which were really eaten just mostly sucked.
9 Months
C is 9 months old! My sweet sweet boy is getting so big. It really is a pleasure to see his little personality and to be his mommy! Here is the basic rundown of what was new this month!
- Eating mostly finger foods and real foods. Favorites include oatmeal, chicken, peas, and noodles. Though nothing has yet to top peaches for the top spot. Still does eat purees however gets angry when he can't have what we're having.
- Not exactly new but something yet unwriten--loves to watch TV theme songs. He doesn't so much watch the shows but the theme song comes on and he will freeze and focus for the entire song.
- Standing up unassisted for short periods of time.
- Standing up without pulling up or pushing off of anything.
- Gives "kisses" by opening his mouth and pressing against your shoulder, cheek or nose.
- Babbles babbles babbles. Will repeat things and has learned to whine Ma. (Thanks Husband!)
- Is starting to figure out waving.
- We have determined he can clap if he has things in his hands to bang together but does not clap otherwise.
- Love loves loves books.
- Has an activity walker that he got last Wednesday and walks all around--he really cruises. I have a video that I can't get to work but hopefully I will soon.
- Working on night weaning. He is a good sleeper in general. He goes down pretty easily most of the time. But he still wakes for a bottle in the middle of the night. Slowly. Slowly. I am dropping down the amount he gets in order for him to determine that it is not worth waking up for the pitiful amount. He's gone from 6 to 2.5 oz and still goes down well after he's done. And the feeding has really spaced out so I think it's working.
- Doctor's appointment on Thursday so no official stats yet.
10 Months
It's practically time to start planning a birthday party. Where did the last 10 months go?!
