Miss M turned 7 on Friday. Which just happened to be an early-out day for school for Fall Break/end of the first quarter.
I got to pick her up and that delighted me. I love spending time with my kids and especially on their birthdays.
Sweetest girl. I just reread your letter from last year and everything is still so true.
This week you were Star Student in your classroom, which just is so precious that you got to be extra doted on this week and share all about yourself. In true you fashion you brought a picture of our family, a picture of you with your friends, a picture of you with your soccer team and a picture of you celebrating Family Movie Night. (I think that’s your favorite night of the week.) You also picked a panda, Frozen Fever Anna, a Princess in Black book and Spot It. Which… accurately describe your interests for sure.
I am sorry for getting so frustrated when you make sloppy errors, you consistently teach me the benefit of kindness and slowing down. I am a work in progress too Baby Girl and I need your love and forgiveness when I am not giving you my best self. Just know that I love you so much and I know you can do it. You are my best girl and one of my favorite people to be around without question. I can't wait to celebrate you all weekend.
You have such a big heart and I appreciate you so much. I love when you make birthday cards for your friends, you put such caring and sweet details into every one and that sums you up right there. You show such grace in a world where your brother draws a lot of the focus. It is not easy for you to always be second fiddle but for the most part just kind of go with the flow, which is such a gift for me you don’t even know. It's also a trait that I believe will serve you so well as you grow.
I love to watch you play soccer. It's sheer happiness that radiates from you as you play, I hope it's always that way. Sometimes you'd rather just stand and chat, but when you really get going you play very well. Reading has clicked for you this year and I am pretty sure that school is going well. (Having your birthday on the very last day of first quarter means I haven't gotten a chance to have your conference but I generally know you're doing great!)
Unrelated pictures of my guy and the rest of the third grade leading the all school rosary this morning.
Baking is one of those things that just instantly puts me in a good mood. I haven't had just a ton of time lately to partake in such endeavors but I saw this recipe a while ago and it stood out to me.
It is NOT Cakey Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies. The picture looks really good. And I do love pumpkin stuff, and I especially love pumpkin cookies but I don't love the texture of traditional pumpkin cookies. This recipe seemed like it would fit the bill.
I did not buy the fancy chocolate she suggests in the recipe. I did buy two Godiva bars and chop them up. I kept back a few big chunks to get the pool of chocolate like in her pictures.
Here's the picture from the recipe:
October has quietly snuck in. And I am here for it. I haven't taken a ton of pictures, preferring to live in the moment. Things have felt busy, but busy in a perfectly tolerable ordinary way.
The material is so approachable (and free for use) and has truly led us to becoming better disciples.
And that's what October has brought to us on this first half. But no worries, there's plenty more goodness on the way.
