Pics or it Didn't Happen: End of June

 My boss sent me flowers on Friday to congratulate me for a great VBS. 

Saturday, M went to the final program for Cathedral Kids Camp. She had a really nice week learning about pilgrimages. 

Yesterday we went on a day trip to see Husband's family. 

One doesn't venture north without a stop at Mabe's. Well... at least we don't/ 

And that busy weekend rolled right into this week... which on paper looks to be calmer but we will see. I am not going to hold my breath just yet.

It's been a heck of a week. 

We are so blessed!! 

Bikini Bottom Day

In the world-renowned Bikini Bottom... I am so insanely proud of these kids. 

I have seen a lot of shows there. This was one of the best I have ever seen. I am the most biased. I am totally aware. But I am not alone in saying C in particular rocked it. 

One of the directors told me straight out: "He is perfect for this role. He is so good." And I never ever in a million years would have thought that before seeing him, but holy moly guacamole was she right. 

His voice teacher was actually shocked. Because in her words, "He had so much energy! He's usually so subdued at the studio."

And my girl in her first big role... was darling. I am so proud. It was so so great to see her personality shine and let her step out of the ensemble for the first time. 

The post-show depression hit immediately and hit hard. C was in tears last night.  But it's because he loved it so much and guys... he was so good! 

It's Showtime!

 After the fastest two-week rehearsal time ever... 

It's Showtime. 

And also VBS setup weekend. Pray for me that God multiplies my time, and I can accomplish everything I want to accomplish! 

A 3 Show Weekend

C went to 3 shows last weekend! Because in the summer, that's how we roll. 

Husband and I got 2. M got 1. 

Friday, C and I went to see Stinky Cheese Man 

Saturday night, Husband and C went to see 1776. 

And on Sunday afternoon, we all went to see Guys and Dolls! 

And after that, we all went out to dinner and enjoyed the company of one another before our crazy week kicked off. 

Getting things ready for VBS AND another 3-show weekend (it's time for SpongeBob) and Father's Day... It's going to be busy! 

Friday!

Oh my goodness. It's Friday. 

How is that possible? Where did the week go? 

It's been a blur of VBS prep, sorting, rehearsals for the kids, carpools, and stormy weather. 

Let's see if I have something to share from every day... 

Tuesday, the shorts I had to order for M for the show arrived, and I was horrified by how short they were. Luckily, on, they aren't too bad. And they are specifically to go under her clothes and will not be the main costume piece. So... I will deal.

We also went to a great grad party for my favorite OGK. I only took this picture of her, her momma (my bestie), and our other friend. 

Wednesday... we had a storm that knocked our power out. This is actually a picture of Husband smiling. 

Luckily, no damage, and we had power back in a span of about 4.5 hours, so not too bad. We did eat the ice cream we had in the freezer because priorities. 

Yesterday was something the kids have been looking forward to for weeks! We did our Orange Drink Taste Test! Just like on insta. 

We had 12 different orange drinks, and we tasted them blind and tried to guess which was which. 

1. Orange Juice
2. Powerade
3. Gatorade
4. Poppi
5. Hy-Vee Orange
6. Crush
7. Fanta
8. Sunkist
9. Faygo
10. Jarritos
11. Kool-Aid Pop
12. Frosty

Spoiler alert: we do not have discerning palates, and all orange pop tastes the same. 

I declared Fanta, from the first sip, my favorite. And since Fanta is my favorite when I can see, I was very impressed with myself. 

Husband got 6 right.

I got 5. 

C got 1.

M got 2. 

And we all hated Poppi. Who is drinking that? And have they had tasty things before? Because that isn't it. And it especially stands out in one of these challenges. 

It was a lot of fun and kind of funny. I will have you know that this was long-awaited because we only bought drinks one at a time and built up quite a collection. And also, after our few sips... most of it was dumped. We each got to pick one to have, but it was a lot of pop! 

And today. 

I sorted alllllllll the VBS shirts and I am spent. And there are still more hours in the day to try and get things tackled so back to it.

Couldn't Get Much Better But It Keeps on Trying

This morning we went out for breakfast. 

Before the first rehearsal for SpongeBob kicked off.

June!

Gosh, I wish I had some big, fancy update for you. 

But I don't. Lol. 

This first bit of June has been a mad rush. It's VBS season as you know. But let's take a peek at the little things of the week, shall we?

C picked me a flower.

And I loved it. It brought me joy the whole day.

What else is bringing me joy? My bestie's mom and dad own a greenhouse, and they had a sale on impatiens, which is truly the only flower that does well in our yard because we have so much shade. And they happened to be coming into town, so I bought a flat. Then they surprised me with an additional flat of shade-happy flowers! 

Mary looks happy with her garden! 

We voted in the Primary. I love the 250-year I voted stickers!

Then we got ice cream because democracy goes better with ice cream. 

I am displeased by some of the outcomes of the primary. But pleased about others. Isn't that the way? We will vote again in November for sure. 

C attended a webinar with authors Jeff Kinney, Kwame Alexander, and Erin Entrada Kelly. He found it inspiring. 

We had our first "go into the office in the evening" family work session to build the sign and bible buddies. 

M is participating in a 3-day show choir camp at the local high school I am pretty sure she will not attend. 

(It's kind of a thing here... in 8th grade everyone starts asking which high school you're going to. There's the Catholic high school, our town has 3 other high schools with open enrollment that's very easy to come by, and the neighboring area has 3 other high schools that are easy to open enroll in. People choose high schools for various reasons: sports, arts, academics, friends.) 

I have been doing her hair so that it won't end up in her eyes while she's show-choiring.

Please note the gazillion trophies. This school is known for its art sports. The marching band wins. The theater productions win. The show choir wins. It's all competitive. 

Today is the last camp day, and tonight there is a performance. I am looking forward to it! 

Last night I attended our Cathedral's gala dinner. I had suspected it would be dry chicken. It was dry salmon and almost dry steak. So an improvement over the chicken! I liked the potatoes very well! 

This morning we celebrated National Donut Day with donuts. I didn't take a picture of that, but they were tasty!
