We are wrapping up Catholic Schools Week. Not a single picture was taken at our house.
Monday was pajama day.
Tuesday, sports day.
Wednesday was Dress As Your Favorite Holiday. (Halloween and Thanksgiving.)
Thursday was in full uniform: no gym uniforms allowed. (Though it wasn't anyone's gym day anyway.)
Admittedly, it was like 50 yesterday AND the gym gets overheated and kids are consistently passing out or feeling dizzy at this Mass. So I had my kids in shorts and short sleeves yesterday. And they did just fine!
And now today is Spirit Wear day. And... that's a wrap on Catholic Schools Week.
I was wondering about the shorts!! We have specific dates where the kids can wear the warm-weather uniform, and then it switches to winter uniform...no options allowed. And I'm always jealous of uniforms with SNEAKERS because our kids have to wear black dress shoes. Maybe I can start a petition :)
ReplyDeleteWe can wear shorts any day of the year, that was a new rule adopted when C was in kindergarten. And there are kids who do in the belowest below zero weather. My kids tend to run hot, and I didn't want them to pass out or need to leave the Mass, and the ones who did were the ones in sweatshirts. I think kids don't recognize the symptoms of overheating the same way adults do.
DeleteDo your kids have to change shoes for recess and gym? That's a lot of extra shoes around school. Our old building wouldn't have a place for them I don't think!
On gym days, they wear a gym uniform, with sneakers. All other days they wear dress shoes, even out at recess. My sons play soccer and basketball at recess, so I try to buy the most athletic black dress shoes I can find!
DeleteI wondered about the shorts too! For Mass days, my kids must wear uniform and no shorts allowed ever. Shorts only from 4/1-10/31 . So any hot day in November or March, my kids are out of luck. We do get sneakers though - I don't think my younger kids have ever worn dress shoes!
